HRH Princess of Wales: what a remarkable, inspirational, moving message to the nation. Her poignant message dismissed the garbage we all had to endure over the past 4 - 5 weeks. I truly admire her strength of character, an amazing woman.
I wish her gods speed for a quick recovery.
Government have ruled in favour of compensation for the WASPI, Women Against State Pension Inequality, women. Government failings have affected millions of women, I am one of them, who were not adequately informed about changes to women’s state pension age. I was 57, 3 years away from my planned retirement when the Governement informed me that my pension age had been changed to 65 years. The change was for the purpose of equality. But equality would have meant that 3 years before retiring, men were told their retirement age had changed for the worse with three years notice.
Suddenly I had to prepare myself for 5 more working years. And then the goal post changed again. I was 62, getting use to working 3 more years when the Govenerment changed the date again to 66. Here I am 1 month away from 66 and compensation has been agreed.
I suspect, like every other compensation claim I'll be dead before I get a penny but for today only I will celebrate WASPI's small victory.

I've just finished binge watching 4 Seasons of 'Hart Of Dixie', a programme that is ten years old. I loved every episode except for the very last one when it was decided that instead of a situation drama/comedy it became a musical - bizarre! However, I'm left wondering what happened to the characters and the actors. Dr Zoe Hart, #RachealBilson, Wade Kinsella #WilsonBethal, Lemon Breeland, #JamieKing, Levon Hayes, #CressWilliams, George Tucker, #ScottPorter, #hartofdixie
Just an observation: there are two present day adverts that are irritating me at the moment. 1) #Dominos & 2) #Nescafe The irony is not lost on me that I am giving them a shout out but the foam brick is coming out of hibination and I will enjoy throwing it at the TV.
The world has gone crazy. With #Instagram, #facebook. #X ruling the airwaves, deciding what we look like, how we feel, what we should or should not be doing with our lives, making us look like a photoshot version of ourselves the world is judging #HRH Princess of Wales for altering the photograph of herself and her children. ~Seriusly!! "What must I do, Mother, what must I do to make a different world for her? How do I start?”
“The secret lies in the reading and the writing. You are able to read. Every day you must read one page from some good book to your child. Every day this must be until the child learns to read. Then she must read every day, I know this is the secret.”
“I will read,” promised Katie. “What is a good book?"

My own mother provided me with the strength and empowerment she didn't have herself. I love the fact that she always, ALWAYS believed in me even when I had no belief in myself. I miss you mum but on this day I will remember your smile and be happy you were in my life. xxx

When a partner in a close romantic relationship is unfaithful the deceit is one of the worse betrayals. It makes the victim affected by this treacherous behaviour feel stupid for not recognizing the signs, if there were any. It makes them feel inadequate and solitary, as if they are the only ones to be treated so appallingly or that it must be their fault that this is happening. And this doesn't mean it has to be a sexual betrayal. It means any secret that might be considered shifty, it means anything agreed or decided behind a loved one's back.
Being one half of a loving partnership, unless agreed and accepted before committing to the relationship, provides certain entitlements, the biggest being trustworthiness and faithfulness. When either of these are broken the worse kind of treason is put in place. One can almost hear the heart breaking into small pieces. In a split second you are no longer part of a couple. The usual balance of power, shared between the two of you shifts dramatically. The liar tries to hold the power by declaring innocence, indignation and declaration of love. Love! Indeed. The real power is moved to the person hurting from the deceit, but it's a power they don't want or know how to use initially. They want to support the story being spun by the person they trusted with their life, their heart, their future.
To be clear, the kind of betrayal that pierces a couple and destroys the very foundations of their life, isn't necessarily sexual although that is a serious impropriety and might be longer lasting than other examples but each of these is sickening. Sickening to be part of and to witness: Intimate texts to a 3rd party, intimate photographs to a 3rd person, affectionate conversations with someone not known or related to the couple, regular clandestine meetings - even for what appears to be an innocent cup of coffee. Then there are those actions that may not involve a 3rd person, instead they involve a treacherous action: buy an expensive car or piece of jewelry (remember the scene in #Loveactually The Necklace Betrayal - Love Actually | RomComs (youtube.com)) a house, a single holiday, all without discussion.
How do we ever get over this cloak & dagger conduct? It is possible but it will require a lot of hard work and a determination to believe it's worth it.

Today I had a Spa expereince. A Christmas gift from my Niece. It was heavenly, everyone should try it at least once.
We all have to negotiate at times in our lives but as a Project Manager we find ourselves negotiating more than most. I've written some tips accompanied by exercises to share with your colleagues or apply yourself, to help you achieve the outcome you want and make all sides comfortable with the end result.
The good thing about this book is that you are not expected to read from start to finish, you can pick up at a point of relevance and gain something relevant to your specific negotiation.
And it's cheap! A book to leave on the waiting room coffee table.

So, women going through the menopause should be given special dispensation equating to a disability and reviewed for any agism bias. What? An employer must now acknowledge a woman’s menstrual cycle, must be supportive of a woman’s baby brain and now must be tolerant of menopause brain fog. Don’t get me wrong, of course an employer should be sympathetic of any employee having to cope with stresses, physical or otherwise, or being under the weather – for any reason. Perhaps there should be a quiet room for anyone to be able to restore their mental capacity and maybe tampons and pads should be available in the bathrooms if required. Maybe, out of curtesy, everyone should be consulted about the office temperature so all are comfortable in the work place.
But women have fought for years for equity and equality, not to be considered a special, delicate case. Do all these female conditions provide a reason for poor behaviour or judgement. Are the symptoms of menopause consistent, permanent and the same for all – no. A woman might have a hot flush once, twice, even three times a day and possibly on and off all night for a few days but unlikely to be in that state forever and if they are there is medication that should be made available for all that need it, see a doctor. The menopause might last between 8 – 10 years. Surely, we wouldn’t expect an employer to make allowances for 10 years!
It raises the question what excuse do men have for bad behaviour and wrong judgements in the workplace? Should Sir Lindsay Hoyle be prescribed HRT to prevent the chaos that took place in the Commons, Houses of Parliament or maybe the temperature just needed to be lowered. So, women going through the menopause should be given special dispensation equating to a disability and reviewed for any agism bias. I drove my adult son to the airport this morning. It was a lovely drive and as always, I enjoyed his company. I drove to the drop off at Heathrow Terminal 5. After he got out I decided to sit in the car and pay my drop off charge. I was there no longer than 3 minutes. That 3 minutes cost me £5. There were approximately 50 other cars there between 3 and 5 minutes. I got to thinking:
50 (cars) x £5 = £250 per 5 minutes
£250 x 12 = £3000 per hour
£3000 x 16 (hours) = £48,000 per day
£48,000 x 365 = £16,748,0000 a year for one terminal. If we include the other 3 terminals (one terminal is Cargo so no applicable charges) the approximate amount of revenue for Heathrow is £50 million. That just seems a lot of money. A tax for dropping someone off to use their facilities, their shops and catch a flight.
Dartford crossing is another tax on the driver. A tax that initially the public were informed would only be for a short time to recoup the cost of the bridge and would then be free. Instead, the toll was retained, and rebranded as a congestion pricing scheme. It was designed to cope with 135,000 cars a day but has to deal with 160,000 all at a toll of £2.50. Not taking into account the different types of vehicles, this provides Dartford Crossing a revenue of £480,000 a day making £45 million six hundred thousand a year.
And then there is the ULEZ and inner London congestion charge, both of which I had unexpectedly been in violation recently. This charge, according to the BBC’s freedom of information request, comes to a staggering monthly average of £18.7m a month.
The point is that none of these driver taxes is paying for road repairs which caused the flat tyre I had to deal with on leaving the airport. Bitter? I might be!
My first written word. Shout out for the new website. Hopefully you will join my journey and watch where the written word takes us. Obviously there are two major wars happening in the world today; Ukraine and Israel. Two Conservative defeats in yesterday's bi-elections and Donald Trump trial date set for March 25th. All will be discussed another day but for now the most important news to hit day-time TV today is that #BenSheppard and #CatDeeley are confirmed as the new presenters of #ThisMorning - no matter what, life continues.
